YANGON, May 28 : A Malaysian Airlines plane carrying a total of 16 and a half tonnes of emergency supplies worth about US$53,000 arrived at Yangon International Airport on Saturday morning.

The relief items were sent from Asean countries to assist those affected by Cyclone Mocha.

An official from the AHA Centre, and Director U Than Soe of the Natural Disaster Management Centre of Yangon Region and officials checked the supplies. The aid will be handed over to the people in the storm-affected areas.

The third batch of relief supplies that arrived yesterday consist of 52 packages of AHA-branded kitchen utensils suitable for a family of five and 210 packs of the shelter tool kit, 280 tarpaulin packages, totaling 542 packages, approximately 16 and a half tonnes of cargo.

Asean countries are providing humanitarian assistance to cyclone victims.

The government practices the plan “No one left behind in providing relief aid and assistance” and under the supervision of Natural Disaster Management Centre, measures are being undertaken in cooperation with respective region and state governments in a timely manner and it is also fully cooperating with AHA center and international organizations.

Four airplanes from Singapore military aircraft sent first and second batches of relief aid to Myanmar.
