SARAJEVO, Sept. 2 -- Four people were killed when a car plunged into a 300-meter-deep ravine on a regional road in central Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), local police confirmed on Monday.

The incident took place in the mountainous area some 60 km from BiH's capital Sarajevo. According to the Zenica-Doboj Canton police, authorities were notified at 11:45 a.m. and found four lifeless bodies inside the vehicle. The victims were identified as BiH nationals.

Emergency services, including the criminal police, special unit, firefighters, and medical teams, responded to the scene. The investigation into the accident is underway.
