COLOMBO, Dec. 4 -- Sri Lanka's All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange reached an all-time high on Wednesday, the country's financial press said, quoting official data.
ASPI increased by 171.69 points within the day to close at 13,511.73, with a 5.2-billion turnover (approximately 18 million U.S. dollars). The S&P SL20 also breached the 4,000 mark, according to the data.
The Sri Lankan stock market has been bullish this year. On Nov. 13, the ASPI crossed the 13,000 mark for the first time since Jan. 31, 2022.
The ASPI measures the movements of the overall market, while the S&P SL20 follows the performance of 20 leading publicly traded companies listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
