"people want to invest, they want to be successful.......they need to have big dreams, and grit....and of course, knowledge and mind set."

Rationalisation vs Critical thinking skill

this OTB, very good in rationalisation. I guess you can rationalise any thing if you put your efforts in it.

but rationalisation is different from critical thinking skills.

in a bull market environment, the rationaliser will make a lot of money if his life depends on pushing stocks.

in a different environment, critical thinking skills can help you see the silliness of the rationaliser.

you better equip yourself with critical thinking skills.....the stock promoter is not going to do it for you.

this rationalising OTB, when questioned, he can always be depended upon to draw out his fake records as defence......its an all purpose weapon.....always ready always used.

moral of the story...each situation to be evaluated on its own merits....not on the boasts of the promoter.

critical thinking skills are in short supply in forums such as this....so people resort to who instead of the situation ..........that is why you have OTB drawing out his fake records whenever questioned.

rationalising...

- to defend a losing trade

- its the emotional brain working

- to keep the status quo

critical thinking skills.......

-to see what when wrong,

-to seek alternatives

- to access the logical/ analytical brain

- to change status quo

As applied to the stock market, its a yin-yang activity

Buyers vs sellers

bull vs bear

In a bull market, you are willing to suspend disbelieve for a bit of the action.

In a bear market, tighten defences and increase critical thinking skills.

rational vs irrational behaviour

markets can remain irrational longer than expected, or ends abruptly.

make money does not mean have analysed rationally or even correctly

Fooled by randomness...you have OTB losing humility, become arrogant.

Trade yes...but better trade utilizing critical thinking skills, and rationally.

rationalizing an event you become a frozen soldier.

rationalizing is an enemy of critical thinking......

choose one, not both.....

too  bad I have to talk using OTB as illustration....just that it is better than just theory.
