KUALA LUMPUR: The DAP's 42 MPs are under public scrutiny after the party's open admission that the Pakatan Harapan government has implemented policies against public opinion, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
"What are the 42 MPs doing? Just keep quiet and be obedient?" asked the MCA president in a Facebook post on Monday evening (Aug 19).
Earlier on Monday, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who is Finance Minister, said in a press statement that the government's decision to allow Lynas Corp's rare earth operations in the country is proof that DAP is not the kingmaker in Pakatan, as alleged by the Opposition.
Dr Wee said that Lim's admission had highlighted DAP's incompetence.
The five other DAP ministers include Yeo Bee Yin, who is Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Minister, where Lynas Corp falls under the purview of her ministry.
The other DAP ministers are Anthony Loke (Transport), Teresa Kok (Primary Industries), M. Kulasegaran (Human Resources) and Gobind Singh Deo (Communications and Multimedia).
The Cabinet' s decision to renew the licence for Lynas for six months from next month was announced last week.
Last Friday (Aug 16), Dr Wee named 13 ministers, including Lim, Kok, Gobind, Kulasegaran and Loke, who once pledged to get rid of Lynas.
Yeo had in December last year told the management of Lynas to honour its commitment to remove its water leach purification (WLP) residue from Malaysia, and that there is no viable near-term solution to manage the accumulated residue, which totalled to 451, 564 tonnes at its plant in Gebeng, Kuantan, at that time.
Last month, DAP's Bentong MP Wong Tack called on those allowing Lynas to continue operating and permanently dispose its waste in Malaysia to either resign from their positions in government, or risked being labelled as traitors to the country.
