PUTRAJAYA: A standard operating procedure is in place to guide authorities who are carrying out disinfection exercises, says Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said the Health Ministry has come up with the SOP following complaints by the public on how this process is being carried out.

“So now the ministry has come up with guidelines which will be followed by local authorities carrying out disinfection.

“This will not only be done at public places but also from house to house, ” he said on Thursday (April 2).

Since March 27, authorities under the Housing and Local Government Ministry has carried out disinfection exercises at 252 areas.

On another matter, Ismail Sabri said the decision on whether Ramadan bazaars will be allowed to operate have not been made.

He said the special committee which looks into non-health matters that he chairs has not even discussed the matter.

“We will look in detail the pros and cons (of allowing Ramadan bazaars to operate). And we must also get the Health authorities’ views on this, ” he said.

Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Melaka and Terengganu have cancelled the annual Ramadan bazaars in light of the Covid-19 pandemic.
