KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 13,627 new Covid-19 cases were recorded from Sept 11 to 17 compared to 14,072 cases in the previous week, says Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said the numbers showed a 3.2% drop in new cases.
“The average daily active cases for the same period was 26,378, which decreased by 4.1% compared to the week before,” he said yesterday.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were 31 deaths between Sept 11 to 17 – a decrease of 8.8% compared to 34 cases the week earlier.
On the number of recoveries, he said it was also down by 16% with 14,513 cases for the same period compared to 17,286 cases the previous week.
On admission of Covid-19 patients in public hospitals for every 100,000 population, Dr Noor Hisham said there was a 6.7% drop for category 1 and 2 patients between Sept 11 and 17 while there was no change in category 3, 4 and 5 patients.
“The percentage of Covid-19 bed occupancy showed a decrease of one percent for non-critical beds while beds in intensive care unit (ICU) and low-risk Covid-19 treatment centres dropped by two percent respectively.
“There was no change to the percentage of Covid-19 patients on ventilator as well,” he said as reported by Bernama.
He added that the number of positive cases was also lower nationwide based on monitoring by the Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC).
