KOTA BARU: Kelantan Pas has directed all 45 state and 14 parliamentary constituencies to submit three names each as potential candidates to represent the party in the upcoming 15th general election (GE15).

Deputy Kelantan Menteri Besar who is also Kelantan Pas deputy commissioner Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah said the directive was issued recently as part of the party's preparations to face the election.

"We have ordered Pas representatives in both state and parliamentary seats to select potential candidates who they believe have the potential.

"They are compiling the list now and the names will be handed over to the menteri besar for consideration soon," he said when met today.  

On Kelantan Barisan Nasional's target to win 35 state and nine parliamentary seats in GE15, Mohd Amar said Pas was aiming at a bigger number.

"If BN only wants to win 35 state and nine parliamentary seats, we want to win all of the existing seats."

Kelantan BN chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub recently said the party planned to win 35 state assembly and nine parliamentary seats in GE15.

He said the state seats include Apam Putra, Gual Periok, Galas and Kok Lanas, while the parliamentary seats include Gua Musang, Tanah Merah and Machang.

While the candidate list was still being looked into, he said the state BN was expected to hand it over to the party president next month.

Jazlan said the candidates would comprise both new faces and incumbents and the candidates would be from various backgrounds, including those from the education sector.
