PUTRAJAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) vice-president Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin remains coy on whether he will contest in the 15th General Election. (GE15)

Radzi, who is Bersatu candidates' selection committee chairman, did not commit to a definite answer when asked if he was on the list of those who will be potentially fielded.

"If yes, I will go (contest). But if I'm not, nevermind," said the senator today.

In the 14th General Election, Radzi contested in the Ketereh parliamentary seat against its incumbent, Tan Sri Annuar Musa and Pas' Wan Ismail Wan Jusoh.

Radzi received 6,799 votes. Annuar secured 25,467 while Wan Ismail garnered 20,841.

Meanwhile, Radzi said the party is in the midst of vetting the list of potential GE15 candidates after receiving nominations from all divisions nationwide.

He said they want candidates with a clean track record, with integrity, are accepted by the rakyat and winnable before the party decides on which constituency they would contest in.

Earlier, Radzi, who is Senior Education Minister, urged students to master as many languages as they can in addition to placing importance and upholding Bahasa Melayu.

"Those with knowledge of other languages would be at an advantage in today's borderless world and they will have the competitive edge.

"At the same time, as Malaysians, Bahasa Melayu is our basic language and we must continue to strengthen the mastery of the language," he said after the A Decade of National Language in Education Sector celebrations here.
