PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional (PN) has closed its doors to any possible cooperation with Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) for the 15th General Election (GE15).
Its chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the pact had decided to move ahead with the existing component parties in the coalition for the Nov 19 election.
The response from Muhyiddin came on the heels of the GTA chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's statement, who earlier today said the pact and PN have two more days to decide on possible cooperation in GE15.
"There were no discussions to work with (GTA).
"It is not that we do not want the cooperation but it has been decided to move forward with what has been arranged since the beginning," he said after the PN Presidential Council meeting at Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) headquarters here today.
Present was PN election director Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
Dr Mahathir, who is also Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairman, insisted that discussions between the two coalitions were on-going, especially on seat negotiations.
