BATU PAHAT, March 23 ― The flood situation in this district has continued to improve, with the number of evacuees dropping to 444 at 4 pm today from 967 this morning.
The Johor Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), in a statement, said only five relief centres (PPS) were still in operation, housing 124 families.
The latest three PPS to be closed were at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Seri Kota Yong Peng, SK Seri Aman and PDK Seri Medan.
Checks by Bernama in several areas showed that floodwaters continued to recede, especially at Kampung Parit Warijo in Sri Medan here, one of the worst hit places.
JPBN said Sungai Bekok at Bekok Dam was at the warning level of 19.01 metres this afternoon.
Rain has been forecast for Muar, while Batu Pahat and Tangkak are expected to be overcast and other districts were reported to be sunny. ― Bernama
