PUTRAJAYA: The requirements imposed on developers for affordable housing projects should be reviewed.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said while there were policies regulating such projects, "it did not go as planned".

"There are such policies, but it did not work out in terms of speed and scale (the number of affordable houses developers are required to build).

"I have asked Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming to review this and implement new requirements," he said after the handing over of house keys for the Madani Dalur Malaysian Civil Servants Housing Project here today.

Anwar said developers were required to build affordable houses when carrying out large-scale housing development projects.
