KUCHING: Sarawak has achieved a 99.4 per cent domestic electrification rate as of the end of 2023, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) CEO Datuk Sharbini Suhaili said even the rural and remote areas now enjoy a 98.4 per cent coverage of electricity supply, reflecting the continuous efforts and support from the state government and the people.

Sharbini expressed SEB's commitment to providing renewable energy resources in support of Sarawak's socio-economic development and sustainability, aligning with the state's goal of becoming a high-income entity by 2030.

He anticipates the ongoing collaboration will help realise Sarawak's vision of becoming a developed state by the same year.

These remarks were made during a breaking-fast event with Sarawak Energy at the Borneo Convention Centre in Kuching.

In his speech, Sharbini urged the public to report any suspicious activities around Sarawak Energy's electrical facilities.

Reports, including supply interruptions or cable damages, can be made through their Customer Service Centre or the 'SEB Cares' mobile app.

In line with the spirit of Ramadan, SEB also made contributions to 11 organisations during the event.
