IPOH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the MySaveFood project in Ipoh after he visited the Taman Perpaduan Ramadan bazaar on Monday.

In a statement by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, it stated that four locations in Perak have been chosen for the Ramadan Rahmah bazaars.

“The Malaysia Save Food Ramadan 2024 project, or better known as MySaveFood, is to cultivate an effective food surplus management system at the bazaar in an effort to reduce food wastage throughout the Holy month.

“The involvement of young people, especially students, in making the project a success reflects a high level of awareness to avoid food wastage,” it said.

The statement also said a total of 389.66kg of unsold food and 754.25kg of unsold drinks were collected from three bazaars in Ipoh from March 14 to 24.

“The unsold food and drinks were collected by volunteers and donated to higher education institutions students, the homeless and the needy,” it said.

Anwar arrived there at about 5.40pm, which is among the Ramadan Rahmah bazaar in Ulu Kinta, and spent about 25 minutes there.

Also present were Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh.

The people including traders, senior citizens and children seized the opportunity to have their photos taken with the Prime Minister.
