PETALING JAYA: The Silk Road and Asian Civilisation Forum, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, will boost Malaysia-China ties, says MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

"The Silk Road has been a symbol of peace and cooperation in terms of economic, cultural, political and religious interactions between the East and the West for centuries," he wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday (March 28).

Dr Wee said he was honoured to be invited to the forum, which is vital to increase interaction between the two countries to promote mutual understanding.

"The forum held in Kuala Lumpur serves as a platform to strengthen our ties with our Chinese counterparts," he said.

The event was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusofa and attended by International Liaison Department Minister Liu Jianchao.

He also thanked Malaysia Friends of Silk Road Club for organising the event, along with its strategic partners Malaysia-China Friendship Association, China Enterprises Chamber of Commerce in Malaysia and Federal Territory Youth Council with the support of the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry as well as the Chinese Embassy.
