KUALA LUMPUR: The Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT) has appointed General (Rtd) Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin as its new chairman and Mohammad Ashraf Md Radzi as its new chief executive effective from April 1.

According to LTAT, Azizan's extensive background in military affairs, diplomacy and leadership development will be instrumental in guiding LTAT towards its strategic objectives.

This will also enhance its role in supporting the welfare of our armed forces personnel and their families, it said.

Azizan brings with him a wealth of experience and leadership acumen, having served with distinction in the Malaysian armed forces for 40 years.

His illustrious career includes holding the positions of chief of air operation and deputy chief of air force, culminating in his appointment as the 15th chief of air force.

Subsequently, Azizan made history by becoming the first 17th chief of the defence force from the Royal Malaysian Air Force.

Meanwhile, LTAT said Mohammad Ashraf assumes the role of chief executive following his tenure as chief financial officer of LTAT since March 2020.

During his tenure, the board said he demonstrated financial stewardship, spearheading the organisation's financial strategies and ensuring fiscal responsibility.

"His leadership contributed to the organisational transformation agenda, resulting in the recovery of dividend levels to a sustainable rate, enhanced financial position as well as improved operational effectiveness," it said.

Mohammad Ashraf commenced his career in Europe, training as an accountant with Ernst & Young before completing his stint with UBS Investment Bank.

Upon returning to Malaysia, Mohammad Ashraf developed his expertise in capital markets with Prokhas Sdn Bhd, an advisory firm wholly-owned by the Ministry of Finance, eventually leading to Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd where he initially served as head of corporate finance before rising to the position of chief financial officer.
