KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans have been urged to protect the peace and harmony enjoyed in the state, thank the security forces for their services every day, and to also remember the less fortunate this Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said amid their celebrations, the people must remember that the state's safety and security are preserved by the security forces, even during the festive season.

“We must also take time to remember the less fortunate, and make an effort to lend a helping hand,” he said in his Hari Raya message on Tuesday (April 9).

He urged people to take the time to visit friends and family to foster closer relations.

Hajiji said unity, peace and harmony help in the building and development of Sabah, and must be preserved at all costs.

“Since I took the helm of the state government three years ago, we have braved various economic and political challenges.

“Thanks to our patience, determination and strength, we managed to (overcome) these challenges,” he added.

Hajiji said he was proud that Sabah, with its rich culture and beliefs, allows its people to live with tolerance and respect for one another.

“This diversity paves the way for us to exploit our ability to bring our families, community, the state and country to grow further.

“This is the importance of peace and harmony amid our racial, religious and cultural differences,” he added, wishing Malaysians Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri on behalf of the state government, his family and himself.
