Haze: Banting, Klang record unhealthy API readings

KUALA LUMPUR: Two areas in the country - both in the Klang Valley - recorded unhealthy air quality levels as of 8am today.

According to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Banting posted an API reading of 163, while Klang saw a reading of 135.

A total of 48 locations nationwide recorded moderate air quality readings of between 51 and 100.

The locations include Rompin and Nilai at 99 each, Balok Baru Kuantan (98), Cheras (96) and Putrajaya (95).

Meanwhile, 17 locations nationwide registered good API readings (below 50), including Kota Tinggi and Paka at 39 each, Sandakan (48), Labuan (42), Kota Kinabalu (36) and Kemaman (34).

Based on APIMS readings, API readings of between 0 and 50 are categorised as good, while 51 to 100 are moderate.

Meanwhile, readings of 101 to 200 are categorised as unhealthy, with readings of 201 to 300 are considered very unhealthy.

Any air quality reading of 300 and above are categorised as hazardous.
