Indians will teach PH/DAP a painful lesson in KKB by-election

THERE will be a big fat chance for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and DAP to secure 60% of the Indian votes out of the total 18% of the votes.

While the majority of Malay and Children votes will go to Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PH/DAP, Indians will be considered as kingmakers in the Kuala Kubu Bharu (KKB) constituency.

PH’s candidate will be most likely from the DAP, but it is not sure about the ethnicity of the candidate. There are rumours that the party will be fielding either a Sikh or Malay candidate.

However, if one of these candidates is fielded, there will be decline in the Indian support for the PH or DAP candidate.

While the Chinese voters might think that there is no political alternative to the DAP, disenchantment among them can be discerned towards the PH/DAP.

There is no way the PH/DAP is going to get the full support of the Chinese especially after the way UMNO Youth had humiliated the non-Malays in the recent sock-gate incident.

The more the DAP is seen in collaboration with UMNO, the more non-Malays will have difficulty with the former.

Of late, the DAP leaders being too accommodative to the Malay hegemonic interests which tended to sacrifice the concerns and legitimate interests of the non-Malays.

Of all the ethnic groups in the country, the one who is the most affected is the Indian.

Overall, they might be considered a minority, but in KKB they have the significant power to alter the political results.

In the last one year or so, Indians have been humiliated and insulted by the Madani government and its Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar’s rude reply to the student who asked for the relaxation of the entry into the matriculation programme, the failure to appoint an Indian Tamil minister, the confusion with the placement of the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) and many other issues have deeply and gravely affected the Indian community.

A few days ago I was told by some Indian groups in the KKB area that they are going to teach PH/DAP a lesson that they will never forget.

Indians are determined to ensure that the PH-led government loses in the KKB by-election.

Even if there are last minute stunts by the PH and DAP leaders, such acts are unlikely to sway the Indian voters.

There is general feeling in the country that Indians have been taken for granted too long.

For Indians in KKB, the coming by-election provides the best opportunity to teach an important political lesson to the Madani government.

The United Rights of the Malaysian Party (Urimai) will be engaged in an intensive campaign to ensure Indians vote against the PH-led government.

Whether they vote in favour of the opposition or some others, the choice is with Indians.

Failure to teach the PH-led government a lesson in the KBB by-election means that Indians will not be taken seriously in other elections. - April 11, 2024
