KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has not sent a notice to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul regarding the memberships of six of the party's members of Parliament (MP), which are alleged to have been automatically revoked.

Bersatu vice president Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee said the six MPs and one state assemblyman were being given the opportunity to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri first.

"So far, no (notice has been sent to the speaker)... as (Bersatu president) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said to let them celebrate first," he told Berita Harian.

When asked whether the notice would be given before the Dewan Rakyat session in June, Kiandee did not have the details on the matter.

Previously, Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris reportedly said that the memberships of six MPs and one state assemblyman of the party who defected by supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had automatically ceased, and they needed to vacate their constituencies.

He added that they did not need to wait for a dismissal letter, as their membership ceased after the Registrar of Societies (ROS) approved the proposed amendments to the party's constitution made on March 2, which would immediately strip the membership of representatives who declared support for any party contrary to Bersatu's direction or stance.

Earlier this month, the ROS was reported to have also approved proposed amendments to Bersatu's constitution made at the party's Extraordinary General Meeting.
