KUALA LUMPUR (April 14): Following the recent Iran-Israel tensions, the government of Malaysia is closely monitoring developments in the Middle East region and has issued on Sunday, a travel advisory specifically directed at Malaysians currently residing or traveling in Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq.

In a press statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of Malaysian citizens in the region.

“As a result of the escalating tensions, several countries, including Iran, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, have closed their airspace.

Malaysians in the region should be prepared for potential disruptions to flight schedules and are advised to make necessary adjustments to their travel plans,” the ministry said.

In case of an emergency or if one requires assistance while abroad, the person should contact the nearest Malaysian embassy or consulate in Tehran, Amman, Beirut and Baghdad.

“Please remain vigilant, stay informed, and follow the instructions of local authorities,” the ministry urged.

On Saturday (April 13) night, Iran reportedly launched hundreds of explosive drones and fired missiles directly at Israel for the first time. This retaliation increases the risk of a larger conflict in the region.

Experts noted that these weapons are more advanced than anything Israel has faced in the past six months of fighting with Hamas and its allies.
