KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star) will sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here on Thursday to formalise their collaboration.

Both parties have been in discussions about the collaboration since last year.

The signing will take place at Unity Hall, Hongkod Koisaan, at 2.30pm.

The witness will be PBS founder Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.

PBS, the oldest party in Sabah, recently underwent a leadership transition, with deputy president Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam appointed as acting president from June 1 while incumbent Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili goes on leave.

Information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai has been appointed as acting deputy president.

In the 2020 state election, PBS won seven seats.

PBS and Star are in the seven-party Gabungan Rakyat Sabah coalition.

Sabah is expected to hold a state election next year.
