JOHOR BARU: The Johor government has expressed regret that water disruptions are still happening in parts of the state.

Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said water disruptions were a yearly occurrence, which affected the people’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

The state had previously urged Ranhill SAJ to make the necessary preparations and actions to avoid this issue from happening, he said.

“Its highest management even gave their commitment on making sure there will not be water disruptions in Johor during the festive season.

“However, we still received complaints of disruption, raising questions about Ranhill SAJ’s abilities as a state water operation to tackle the annual water supply issues,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (April 15).

“The state government wants the water operator company to address each complaint faced by the Bangsa Johor people.

“Ranhill SAJ needs to be more proactive in improving the quality of service for the good of the people,” he added.

Last Thursday (April 11), more than 1,000 residents in Kulai - Gagasan Murni Jaya, Kampung Sri Muar and Felda Bukit Permai - reportedly had to spend their festive celebration without water.

State executive councillor and Bukit Permai assemblyman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor said the taps were dry and the lorries supplying water to the villages were also late.

Water disruption issues in the areas had been going on for years and became more critical during festive seasons, he added.
