MULU: Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Department Datuk Gerawat Gala has hailed the tradition of visiting open houses during festive seasons as a significant way of strengthening ties among Sarawak's diverse communities, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.
Gerawat highlighted the importance of this tradition in fostering unity among the multi-ethnic residents of Sarawak.
He shared these thoughts during an Aidilfitri open house visit in Kampung Seberang Lubok Nibong, Mulu on Monday (April 15).
"Sarawak's unique blend of ethnicities and religions creates a vibrant cultural mosaic, enabling people to celebrate and experience the warmth of each festival together," Gerawat said.
He pointed out the uniqueness of Kampung Seberang Lubok Nibong, noting it as the only Malay village in the Mulu constituency, which adds to the rich cultural tapestry of the region.
During the event, the Mulu assemblyman also distributed contributions to the elderly and children as part of the celebrations.
