BINTANGOR: The Sarawak government will prioritise development in rural areas, ensuring the needs of its communities are addressed, the Sarawak Public Communications Unit reported.

During a visit to the longhouses in the Meradong constituency on Thursday, assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing highlighted the state's commitment through various initiatives.

He pointed out the approvals of the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP), Minor Rural Project (MRP), Sarawak Poor Rural Housing Improvement Programme (PPRMS), and special grants as evidence of this commitment.

"These project approvals reflect the leadership of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his dedication to the state's development," Ding said.

Ding, who is also the Chairman of the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) Bintangor Branch, highlighted the importance of grassroots visits to directly understand the issues faced by residents and receive applications from the community leaders and locals.

He also announced that a special task force from the Sarawak Premier's Department will organise a programme from June 10 to 14 at the Meradong District Office. This programme aims to assist children who lack identification documents or face issues with Malaysian citizenship applications.
