PETALING JAYA: Multicultural celebrations show the importance of culture and history in strengthening unity, says Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.

"As I have always said, any policy needs to look after the heart-ware as much as it does the hardware. By understanding the diversity of different cultures, we build bridges of respect between different communities," he said.

Speaking about the Hari Raya Aidilfitri event organised by the Kuala Kubu Baru Historical Society that he attended, Sim said that over 100 residents in the area enjoyed the celebration that also included Indian dances, Chinese orchestras as well as poetry recitals.

"Through this, we not only preserve the heritage of our ancestors but also strengthen our social bonds and enrichen our cross-generational understanding," said Sim.
