PETALING JAYA: Pang Sock Tao has been named as Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke announced Pang who is reportedly to be Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming’s aide.

Loke at a Pakatan event in Kuala Kubu Baru, said Pang, 31, was selected as the DAP candidate after considering all her qualifications and experiences.

Earlier Wednesday, The Star reported that Pang is likely to be fielded as a DAP candidate in the upcoming Kuala Kubu Baru by-election.

According to sources, speculation was rife that Pang would be announced as the DAP candidate at a party event in Kuala Kubu Baru at 8pm on Wednesday (April 24).

Meanwhile, other party sources who are privy to campaign preparations for Kuala Kubu Baru also did not deny the speculation.

On April 4, the Election Commission (EC) set May 11 as polling day for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election, with nomination and early voting on April 27 and May 7, respectively.

Lee, 58, who had been the Kuala Kubu Baru assemblyman under the Hulu Selangor parliamentary constituency since 2013, battled cancer for several years.

The by-election is the seventh to be held after the 15th General Election (GE15) in 2022.

The electoral roll for the Kuala Kubu Baru by-election comprises 40,226 registered voters consisting of 39,362 regular voters, 625 police personnel, 238 military personnel and spouses and one absentee voter residing abroad.
