SHAH ALAM: Sungai Buloh member of parliament Datuk R. Ramanan has advised Kuala Kubu Baharu voters to obtain information from trustworthy sources.

He said this after a video of Pakatan Harapan candidate Pang Sock Tao criticising Barisan Nasional during the 15th General Election (GE15) campaign resurfaced.

Ramanan said the resurfaced video highlighted the importance for voters to double-check the information they receive.

"Today, we are inundated with a plethora of misinformation and falsehoods.

"Old videos resurface and are manipulated to fuel a malicious campaign.

"I implore voters to not succumb to falsehoods," he said at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Sungai Buloh parliamentary constituency's public service centre here.

Ramanan, who is also deputy entrepreneur development and cooperatives minister, said voters should verify information through credible news sources rather than social media.

"Rely on credible newspapers and recognised media outlets for accurate information.

"Avoid sources like TikTok, Instagram or Facebook, as they often amplify unverified issues."

Previously, DAP publicity secretary Teo Nie Ching said the video of Pang was taken in November 2022 during a GE15 campaign event in Kulai, Johor.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat by-election will see a four-cornered fight between PH's Pang, Perikatan Nasional's Khairul Azhari Saut, Parti Rakyat Malaysia's Hafizah Zainudin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.
