RIYADH: Malaysia and Saudi Arabia are engaged in talks about new investments into the country, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"We are in the midst of discussions, which will be formalised by this evening, and we will be announcing some new investments with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," said Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, here today.

Apart from that, the Prime Minister said Malaysia also had put in place plans and efforts to work with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to boost halal activities and the industry as a whole.

He added that the memorandum of understanding between the Malaysian Securities Commission and IsDB, which was signed earlier, was also a positive development, making Malaysia a centre of excellence from the point of view of the Islamic capital market.
