HULU SELANGOR: Former Umno veteran Tan Sri Noh Omar praised MCA for having dignity after it decided to sit out of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election when Barisan Nasional endorsed a DAP candidate.

According to Noh, Kuala Kubu Baharu was traditionally an MCA seat.

“It was formerly an MCA seat and the Barisan chairman just announced that MCA is not contesting this seat.

“That is why MCA was upset. MCA has dignity and integrity. I respect MCA leaders for having dignity,” said Noh at a ceramah at Batang Kali on Wednesday (May 1) night.

Noh also said he was amazed at Gerakan for giving way to Bersatu to contest the seat despite losing the seat in the last state elections.

“This shows unity and respect among one another. Unlike Barisan,” added Noh.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat was held by MCA from 1986 until 2013 when it fell to DAP’s Lee Kee Hiong.

Lee held the seat from 2013 until this year when she passed away after a battle with cancer.

Last month, MCA had announced that it would sit out of the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu state seat is seeing a four-cornered fight between Pakatan Harapan’s Pang Sock Tao, Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut, Independent Nyau Ke Xin and Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainudin.
