KUALA LUMPUR: Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh and his Bersatu counterpart, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal have taken to social media to troll each other about their respective parties' "changing stances" on issues.

Akmal fired the first salvo with a post on Wan Fayhsal's apparent contradictory stand on vernacular schools.

He posted a photo of two news reports, the first from 2020 and another from yesterday.

The earlier report was titled "Bersatu Youth insists vernacular schools must be closed" while the latter was titled "PN won't close vernacular schools"

"What happened? Surely you are not changing your stand just for votes?," Akmal said in the post.

Later, Wan Fayhsal hit back at Akmal by also posting a photo of two news reports, one from 2021 and another from 2023.

The earlier report was titled "Zahid vows 'no Anwar, no DAP'" and the latter was titled "For Umno, 'no Anwar, no DAP' is longer relevant, says Puad".

The earlier report was about Umno's stance before the 15th general election (GE15) that it would not work with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP.

No party was able to secure a simple majority to form the government on their own in GE15 and subsequently, a unity government involving Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional, and other parties was formed.

Anwar was appointed Prime Minister.

In his retort to Akmal, Wan Fayhsal advised the Umno man to reprimand his party leaders for changing their stand on working with Anwar and DAP.
