KKB Polls: Cops will ensure public safety guaranteed, says Home Minister

KUALA KUBU BARU: The safety of the public, especially those hoping to vote during the coming by-election here, is guaranteed, says the Home Minister.

Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the police began preparations to ensure public safety here as soon as the Election Commission announced that the seat was vacant.

"I was briefed by the Inspector-General of Police that they activated their preparations following the announcement.

"The safety of everyone, including those who wish to vote here, is guaranteed," he told reporters after attending the Hari Raya celebrations at the Kuala Kubu Baru Police Academy on Friday (May 3).

Also in attendance was Bukit Aman management department director Comm Datuk Seri Azmi Abu Kassim Bukit Aman crime prevention and community safety department director Comm Datuk Wan Hassan Wan Ahmad and Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

He said the public did not need to worry when going about to fulfil their responsibilities.

"The police force is performing its duties in ensuring security and public order.

"We want the entire process to go smoothly with voters able to move freely without any threats or worries for their personal safety," he said.

Saifuddin also reminded the public to obey the law at all times.
