KUALA LUMPUR: The government is testing the use of the QR code to improve services at the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complexes at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Johor.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail today said the testing period would run from June 1 to Aug 31.

"We aim to encourage travellers to be more familiar with the application during this period.

"Travellers can use any application developed at BSI and KSAB entrances, after the proof-of-concept session is over."

He said this in a written parliamentary reply to Hassan Abdul Karim (Pakatan Harapan-Pasir Gudang).

Hassan had asked about measures taken to ensure that using the QR code immigration system at the Johor Causeway and the Second Link would resolve congestion issues and that the implementation went smoothly.

Saifuddin said the ministry, through the Immigration Department, had disseminated information about the QR code at CIQ BSI and CIQ KSAB.

"This initiative is expected to reduce congestion at entry points.'
