KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) proposal on the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Course (KIAR) has been mandated by the government.

The KIAR was proposed to be implemented in all Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide.

MACC deputy chief commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Seri Norazlan Mohd Razali said this decision was made to strengthen the TVET sector in line with the requirements of the Industry 4.0 revolution, where numerous training opportunities are available to students.

"The KIAR module is a continuous effort to produce a workforce and entrepreneurs who are against any corrupt practices in business transactions.

"This ensures industries supported by TVET, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs), remain untainted and free from corruption issues," he said.

Norazlan said this initiative emphasises the enhancement of soft skills and social values, including integrity and anti-corruption elements, but also corresponds with the National Anti-Corruption Strategy (NACS) 2024-2028.

He said MACC has implemented the KIAR learning programme in collaboration with the Sabah State Department of Human Resources Development (JPSM) and also at the Industrial Training Institutes (ILP) in Kuala Lumpur and Melaka under the Ministry of Human Resources.

"Implementation of KIAR has been extended to 22 training institutes under the Youth and Sports Ministry,'' he said.

The mandate was finalised during the TVET council meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi on May 20.
