KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government's implementation of investor-friendly policies has attracting the attention of China.

China-based government-linked company (GLC) chairman Chen Pengyu said these policies are timely and impactful for the development of the Asian region.

He added that the policies have also piqued the interest of more investors from China to venture into various industries in Sabah, especially those related to new and green energy.

"Companies from China will be more inclined to invest in Sabah to help the state move towards green energy capability.

"In the future, I also hope that more companies from China and worldwide will invest in Sabah for growth... Sabah is a state worth investing in," he said in a statement after signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Shanghai Vision Industrial Development and Bumi Borneo Consultant and Training at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here yesterday.

The MOU is one of the business matching agendas witnessed during the 11th Sabah Oil, Gas, and Energy Conference and Exhibition (SOGCE) 2024, which has been held here since Friday, and is aimed at establishing cooperation between both parties for the development of green energy in Sabah.

Meanwhile,  Bumi Borneo Consultant and Training managing director Mohd Suffry Abdul Rahman said the opportunity to collaborate with foreign companies in the green industry is an apt platform to fulfill the state government's aspirations for the green energy industry in Sabah.

"After the Sabah state government, through the Sabah Energy Commission (ECOS), took over on Jan 3, we are very positive.

"Although its only been six months, we can see changes in energy acquisition.

"Last May, an open tender for solar was floated for the participation of all players in this industry," he said.
