KOTA KINABALU: A new concept has been proposed to revitalize Parti Bersatu Sabah and shed its "old people's party" stigma in an effort to rejuvenate the state's oldest multicultural political party.

Its information chief, Datuk Joniston Bangkuai, said the proposed PBS 2.0 concept would pave the party’s future and position the 39-year-old party as a pioneer in reclaiming Sabah’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the Constitution.

“PBS has a rich history and legacy; we must build on this foundation. We must leverage PBS's historical legacy.

“Perhaps it is time we consider PBS 2.0 as an initiative to really rejuvenate the party, stay relevant, and ensure we are not left behind but instead lead the way in innovative political practices,” Bangkuai said in his talk titled "The Way Forward for PBS" at the PBS Youth Political Platform Seminar, here, on Thursday (July 25).

Bangkuai suggested the PBS Youth Wing lead in developing strategies and objectives for the party's rejuvenation process.

"As future leaders of PBS, it is only proper for members of the party's youth wing to be at the forefront of efforts to strengthen the party," he said.

He added that this initiative should include a comprehensive digital strategy, modernised campaign tactics, the empowerment of youth and women, and, importantly, engaging the new generation of voters.

“I see PBS 2.0 as a call to action for all members. It is not just a plan but a movement towards a brighter future for our party, and to me, this is the way forward for PBS,” Bangkuai said.

The party's executive committee members attended the seminar, which was led by PBS Youth chief Christoper Mandut and divisional youth leaders.
