PAS announced it will soon decide whether to contest in the upcoming state election (PRN) in Sabah.

However, PAS party president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang mentioned that the decision will be based on discussions with allied parties and the strength of their election machinery.

While PAS did not field any candidates in the last general election, they are considering doing so this time.

“PAS will look at the needs of whether or not to contest in the Sabah PRN, depending on the discussion with our party friends, and also depending on the strength of the machinery.

“In the last general election, PAS did not field any candidate to contest, but this time things may change. Maybe this time we will field candidates,” he said after attending the Sabah PAS Convention at the Raia Hotel on Saturday (Aug 31).

Sabah PAS currently has over 20,000 members, with the majority in Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, and Sandakan.

However, the decision to field candidates will depend more on support and cooperation with other parties than on membership numbers. - Sept 1, 2024
