PETALING JAYA: His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has ordered the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation into alleged criminal elements and child abuse in welfare homes linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB).

The King said he viewed seriously the various reports that had been circulating in the media.

“The Islamic creed (akidah) must be protected at all times and should not be taken lightly,” His Majesty said in a post on his official Facebook page yesterday.

As such, Sultan Ibrahim advised all quarters not to issue any extreme statements or views regarding religious issues as it was very sensitive and must be handled with care.

“I want a comprehensive investigation to be carried out and action taken,” added His Majesty.

Meanwhile, a man affiliated with GISB is set to be formally charged at the Putrajaya Court today for criminal intimidation and assault.

“One male individual from GISB will be charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code tomorrow (today),” the Kuala Lumpur police contingent headquarters said in a statement.

A check on the court’s website showed that the suspect has been listed to appear before Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin at 9am.

Last Wednesday, police rescued 402 children, comprising 201 boys and 201 girls, aged between one and 17, from 20 care homes in Selangor and Negri Sembilan in a rescue operation codenamed Ops Global.
