PETALING JAYA: The Selangor Fatwa Committee has declared Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings (GISB) and its affiliates deviant from Islamic faith.
The Selangor Royal Office said that this came after Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj consented to the new fatwa following a special meeting of the state fatwa committee on Sept 30.
“The committee expressed satisfaction and conviction that the leaders, followers, employees, or members of GISB and its affiliates have been and are still practicing the 'Aurad Muhammadiah' or 'Zikir Agung', promoted by the Darul Arqam group.
“This practice was previously declared deviant from true Islamic faith according to Gazette No. 54, published on Feb 4, 1993,” the Selangor Royal Office said through a Facebook post on Thursday (Oct 3).
It added that the beliefs, teachings, practices, or operations of GISB and its affiliates exhibit characteristics that deviate from true Islamic teachings as upheld by the Ahli Sunah Waljamaah in terms of faith and sharia.
“Any variation, form, or branch of new beliefs, teachings, practices, or operations that resemble, wholly or partly, the elements of these beliefs, teachings, practices, or operations are deemed deviant and contrary to true Islamic teachings according to Ahli Sunah Waljamaah,” the Royal Office added.
Last month, the Perlis Fatwa Committee became the first state that declared the beliefs and teachings of GISB as deviant and unIslamic.
