BUTTERWORTH: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has hit out at opposition lawmakers, saying that they should speak up for the majority of Malaysians rather than the T15 echelon.

Speaking at the launch of the National Hawkers and Petty Traders Carnival 2024 (HPPK 2024) at PICCA Convention Centre @ Butterworth Arena here today, Anwar said the opposition members of parliament were defending the T15 group in Parliament as well as social media.

"When they go inside the kampung, they speak in defence of the lower income group. But in Parliament and social media, they are defending the T15.

"This is unreasonable, it does not make sense.

"They should speak up for the majority of Malaysians, in the lower and middle-income group instead," he said.

Anwar had previously said that he was not a "Robin Hood" when introducing subsidy rationalisation for the T15 group in the 2025 Budget.
