PETALING JAYA: Port operator Westports Holdings Bhd
’s (pic) business model is sustainable on a long-term basis and coupled with its recurring yet growing income model from its ongoing throughput growth at Port Klang, it remains a “buy”.
Hong Leong Investment Bank’s research unit said this in a report to clients yesterday adding that for the financial year ending Dec 31,2021 (FY21), it is expecting a 3% container growth, in line with management’s guidance of 0-5% growth.
“We maintain a “buy” with a higher target price of RM4.95, “ it said on the company’s stock.
At last look, the stock was trading at RM4.56 per share, valuing the entire company at over RM15bil.
“Although there was a congestion problem at the end of 4Q20, management assured that the issue has eased and its productivity has normalised in January.
“As expected, January’s numbers have shown a marginal increase of 1% to 2%.
“In terms of dividends, management shared that they will revert to a payout of 75% (from 60%) for FY21, ” Hong Leong said.
Meanwhile, in its report on the port operator, AmInvestment Bank Research said it was also maintaining its “buy” call on Westports while raising its FY21–22 net profit forecasts by 4% and 2% respectively.

1 x 20 footer weight / empty = 2 tons
1 x 20 footer weight / laden with cargoes = 30 tons
When this huge vessel is on transit to destination ,
it carries 19,550 containers with cargoes ( 586,500 tons )
it carries 3,450 empty containers ( 6,900 tons )
