Pheim buys 5.16 percent stake in Pentamaster

Pheim Asset Management is the second-largest shareholder of Pentamaster with a 5.16% stake
Pheim Asset Management Sdn Bhd has emerged as a substantial shareholder of Pentamaster Corp Bhd after acquiring 7.57 million of the latter’s shares, a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Sept 22 reveals.

Post-acquisition, Pheim Asset Management is the second-largest shareholder of Pentamaster with a 5.16% stake. Based on Pentamaster’s closing price of RM1.27, the block of shares was bought at RM9.61 mil.

Pheim Asset Management is a management company specialising in the Asean region investment and Islamic funds. It is also one of the largest shareholders of a Singaporean-listed company, SBI Offshore Ltd (6.73% stake).

For its Q2 ended June 30, Pentamaster posted a net profit of RM7.25 mil, a surge of 129% from RM3.16 mil in the previous corresponding period. 

This was attributed to higher sales from both its automated equipment and automated manufacturing solution operating segment. Shares of the semiconductor test and vision inspection equipment maker has risen 108% in the past six months to RM1.27 on Sept 22 from 61 sen on March 22.
