The FBM KLCI (-0.8%) endured a choppy trading session before succumbing the selling pressure in selected index heavyweights in the second half of the trading session. Market breadth turned positive as gainers outpaced the losers on the ratio of 558-to-456 stocks. The energy sector (+2.5%) outperformed the broader market on gains from Heng Yuan (+5.0 sen), Coastal Contracts (+3.0 sen) and Carimin (+2.5 sen) ahead of OPEC and allies meeting on the direction of production.
