FBM KLCI: 1,559.42 pts (+29.00pts, +1.89%)

The FBM KLCI (+1.9%) rallied strongly, tracking the overnight rebound in Wall Street as the key index was boosted by the firm buying momentum in the index-linked plantation counters on the back of the surge in CPO price above RM4800 level. Market breadth turned positive as the gainers hammered the losers by 612-to-433 stocks. The plantation sector (+8.0%) gained momentum with SIMEPLT (+54.0 sen), IOICORP (+31.0 sen), and KLK (+172.0 sen) registering the decent gains in the sector. This was followed by the energy sector (+2.1%) as Brent oil price traded above USD80 level.
