Working Experience
Datuk Ali Abdul Kadir is currently the Chief Executive Officer and Head of Asia of DIG Asia Sdn. Bhd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dubai Investment Group Limited.
He sits on the board of Labuan Offshore Financial Services Authority and is a Senior Advisor of Ernst & Young, Malaysia.
He was appointed by the Minister of Finance as the Chairman of Securities Commission on 1 March 1999. He also chaired the Capital Market Advisory and International Communication for the Capital Market (ICCM) committee.
He was a member of a number of national committees including National Economic Consultative Council II (MAPEN II), the Foreign Investment Committee and the Oversight Committee of National Asset Management Company. He was also a Trustee of the Financial Reporting Foundation, which oversees the financial reporting framework in Malaysia, and had served on the Finance Committe on Corporate Governance. In addition, he was also a Trustee of the Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) from November 2000 to October 2003.
He was actively involved in international regulatory circles. He was a member of the Executive Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO), Chairman of IOSCO's Asia Pacific Regional Committee and chaired and chaired the Islamic Capital Market Task Force.
Prior to his appointment as Chairman of Securities Commission, he was the Executive Chairman and partner of Ernst & Young and its related firms. He was also the former President of the Malaysian Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA, now known as the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants), chairing both its Executive Committee and Insolvency Practices Committee and co-chairing the Company Law Forum.
