Mr Leong Khai Cheong ("Mr Leong") is a Chartered Accountant of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of UK and a Certified Public Accountant of Singapore. He holds associate membership of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. Mr Leong has worked in professional firms and public listed companies and has diverse knowledge and experience in auditing, finance & accounting and general management.
Mr Leong was employed in George Kent (Malaysia) Berhad, a company listed on Bursa Malaysia, in various positions including that of General Manager - Finance and Control between 1975 to 1988. He was with United Engineers Limited ("UEL"), a company listed on Singapore Stock Exchange from September 1988 to August 1996 holding the positions of General Manager - Group Finance and Administration, Company Secretary and Head of UEL's Malaysian Operations. He later became a Corporate Consultant to UEL from September 1996 to February 1998. While in UEL, he sat on the Boards of various subsidiaries of UEL involved in health care, property development, engineering & construction and manufacturing & trading based in the ASEAN region and China. He was also the Senior Independent Non-Executive Director of Ogawa World Berhad from 2007 to 2013. Mr Leong was appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of Apex Healthcare Berhad ("the Company") in 2000 and as Senior Independent Non-Executive Director in 2005 and retired as a Director of the Company on 23 May 2019. He currently holds directorships in various private companies in Malaysia.
