Tan Sri Abdul Rashid is a full-time businessman. Before venturing into business, he was a senior partner in a legal firm in Kuala Lumpur until his retirement on 24 August 2006. In 1970, he became a Barrister-at-Law. He joined the Malaysian Judicial and Legal Service in 1971 and became a Magistrate until 1973. He was later made the President of the Sessions Court in Klang. In 1975, he became the Senior Federal Counsel for the Income Tax Department. He left the Government Service in 1977. He was appointed Director of S P Setia Berhad on 15 January 1996 and the Chairman of the Executive Committee of S P Setia Berhad on 29 January 1996. He was formerly Chairman of the Board of S P Setia Berhad from 12 March 1997 till 25 October 2012.
