Degree in Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) from University of Newcastle, Australia in 1971. Completed the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program in Boston, USA in 2003. Fellow of the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers.

Previously with the Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) Group. Held various senior management positions including Head of Corporate Banking, Head of Commercial Banking, Head of Malaysian Operations, Managing Director of Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad (now known as Maybank Investment Bank Berhad) and Executive Director (Business Group).
The last position held prior to retirement from the Maybank Group was Deputy President/Executive Director/Chief Financial Officer.
Presently, Chairman of Danajamin Nasional Berhad and a member of the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee sponsored by Bank Negara Malaysia.
