Dato' Asri is the Secretary General of Treasury, Ministry of Finance (MOF) appointed on 1 May 2020. He was previously the Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Policy), the position he assumed since 25 November 2019 before his appointment to current position.
Dato Asri has served the civil service for 26 years and began his career as Assistant Director of the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) in the Prime Ministers Department in 1994. Later, he moved to the Anti-Corruption Agency in April 1998, before serving as Administrative and Diplomatic Officer in the Public Service Department from March 2003. Dato Asri continued his service as the Principal Assistant Secretary in the MOF and has held several other positions since, including Deputy Under-Secretary, Investment, MOF Inc. and Privatisation Division. He was appointed the Under-Secretary, Government Investment Companies (GIC) Division, MOF in July 2015 before being promoted to be the Deputy Secretary General of Treasury (Investment) in March 2018
