KUALA LUMPUR: Pharmaniaga Bhd has the capacity to manufacture two million doses of Covid-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinovac Life Sciences Co Ltd a month beginning in March.
Its group managing director, Zulkarnain Md Eusope, said the vaccine would be the first to be manufactured in Malaysia at the small volume injectable high-tech plant owned by Pharmaniaga’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Pharmaniaga LifeSciences Sdn Bhd, in Puchong.
He said the group would invest RM3 million to retrofit the plant to enable the production of the vaccine.
“We are confident of carrying out the task successfully because our technical experts have been working on the setting up of a halal vaccine plant in Malaysia since 2017,” he told reporters after the signing of an agreement between Pharmaniaga and Sinovac today
“When Covid-19 spread around the world early last year, we immediately channelled our team to work with our global partners, including Sinovac, on the fill and finish manufacturing activity and technology transfer to speed up the availability of vaccines against the pandemic.”
The signing ceremony was witnessed by senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob, health minister Dr Adham Baba and science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin.
The agreement is for the supply of 14 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to be carried out through the fill and finish activity.
Pharmaniaga has been engaging with the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) to ensure that its plant continues to be in high compliance with regulatory requirements.

Even in Apr 2020 lockdown till June 2020 the share price hovering ard 0.70 to 0.80 .....200 days moving average ...so dun be fool that another 2 weeks MCO can affect AA share price . Today price already priced in from a drop of rm1.00 a few weeks ago on 14Dec 2020. Btw AA has many revenue besides running an airlines .
Price correction has been done way before this MCO lockdown ..repost

Kementerian Kesihatan mewakili Kerajaan Malaysia telah menandatangani Manufacturing & SupplyAgreement (MSA) bagi pembekalan vaksin COVID-19 Pfizer-BioNTech BNT1262b pada 11 Januari 2021, jam 10.30 pagi.
Majlis menandatangani perjanjian berkenaan telah dimeterai oleh YB Dato’ Sri Dr. Adham bin Baba, Menteri Kesihatan Malaysia bagi pihak Kerajaan Malaysia manakala pihak Pfizer (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. diwakili oleh Puan Luksanawan Thangpaibool, CountryManager (Malaysia/Brunei) secara virtual di Pejabat Menteri Kesihatan, Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, Putrajaya.
Perjanjian dengan Pfizer (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. melibatkan perolehan vaksin sebanyak 12,799,800 dos yang akan dibekalkan mulai penghujung bulan Februari 2021 meliputi 20% populasi penduduk Malaysia dengan 2 dos seorang. Perjanjian yang dimeterai pada hari ini adalah untuk fasa pertama dengan penghantaran vaksin ke seluruh Malaysia.
Kerajaan juga bersetuju untuk membuat perolehan bekalan tambahan12.2 juta dos yang menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan vaksin Pfizer-BioNTech BNT1262b sebanyak 25 juta dos meliputi 39% populasi penduduk Malaysia dan akan diterima sepanjang tahun 2021.
